Dopamine Jail is built so that nothing about you leaves your iPhone.
What we collect
Almost nothing. There is no account, no analytics, no advertising and no tracking. The only thing that leaves your iPhone is the status of your subscription (see below).
Screen Time
If you connect Screen Time, Dopamine Jail uses Apple’s FamilyControls, ManagedSettings and DeviceActivity frameworks. The apps you choose are opaque tokens provided by Apple. We can’t see which apps they are, and they are never sent anywhere. Usage limits for your daily allowance are evaluated on your device by iOS.
Camera and the eyes check
If the eyes check is on, the session timer only runs while the front camera sees your face with your eyes closed. On iPhone this uses Apple’s ARKit face tracking; on Android, Google’s on-device ML Kit face detection. The camera image and the face data (how open each eye is) are processed on your device in real time and immediately discarded. Nothing is recorded, stored, sent to us or anyone else, or used for advertising, and the face data is never used to identify you. You can turn the check off in Settings, or decline camera access and sit without it.
Stored on your device
- Your settings (how long you sit, how long apps stay free, emergency passes, the eyes check).
- Your history of sits (date, length, practice).
- Daily counters used by the app, its widgets and its extensions.
This data stays on your device. It is deleted when you delete the app, or when you choose Settings › Erase all data.
Subscriptions
Dopamine Jail Pro is sold through Apple’s App Store, and Apple handles the payment: we never see your card or your Apple ID. To check whether your subscription is active, the app uses RevenueCat. RevenueCat receives your purchase history (which plan, when it started, whether it renews) together with a random ID created on your device. It is not linked to your name, email or Apple ID, and it is never used for tracking or advertising.
Notifications
Notifications are scheduled locally on your device. No push service is used.
Children
Dopamine Jail is not directed at children under 13 and does not knowingly collect information from anyone.
